Scientific Visits at Doon
CERN Switzerland – A deep dive into particle Physics
Students from The Doon School went on a field trip to CERN, where they were fascinated by the wonders of particle physics. Witnessing the ATLAS detector and learning from world- class physicists exemplified their interest and helped them better understand scientific discovery. This experience, a distinctive aspect of The Doon School’s Science Department, piqued all the students’ interest in scientific advancement and modern technology.
NUS Annual Science Summer Camp
Every summer, the National University of Singapore organizes an intensive, hands-on Science Immersion Camp for motivated student researchers. This multi-week residential program allows participants to live and learn with NUS faculty, graduate students, and peers from all over the world. Students conduct research projects in cutting-edge labs in fields such as biomedical sciences, computer engineering, chemistry, and environmental studies, as well as attend seminars and workshops, to gain a comprehensive scientific experience that will help them determine their academic interests and goals.
ISSDC International Round – NASA Kennedy Space Center
The Doon School’s Space Settlement Design Team has the opportunity to expand their competition experience by qualifying for the worldwide round of the Space Settlement Design Competition at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Aside from the well-known design difficulty for self sustaining space colonies, students gain valuable experience. Exclusive tours take guests inside rocket construction and executive areas, immersing them in NASA’s rich history of space travel. This strengthens the connection between Doon students and the aerospace field, pushing them to push the limits of human discovery alongside the pioneers who are leading humanity’s next steps into space.
