Ways of Giving
Donation Policy
The Chairman of the Board and the Headmaster welcome offers of donations of all sizes, whether in connection with specific campaigns or to add to the school’s endowment, as these enable the school’s continuing development over the long term.
Donations must be freely given with no expectation of anything in return other than due thanks and recognition. The Chairman of the Board and Headmaster are pleased to accept lawful donations which are given in good faith and which are compatible with the school’s aims, values and strategic objectives. As the school values and safeguards its autonomy, integrity and reputation, the Chairman of the Board and the Headmaster do not accept donations when a condition of acceptance would compromise these fundamental principles.

TAX BENEFIT IN THE US THROUGH “Friends of The Doon School – FODS”
Old Boys resident in the US can donate through the ‘Friends of The Doon School- FODS’ to obtain tax relief under US IRS 501 C (3). The donor gets a tax deduction equal to the amount of contribution. So if he donated $100 and his marginal tax rate is 35%, he will get to reduce his taxes by $35.

Donors in the UK can donate through the DOSCENT Trust in London. The Doon School English Charitable Trust (DOSCENT Trust) is registered as a Charity in England and Wales under Registration no- 290238. As such, it can get benefits on donations received from individuals and Companies.
Individuals can make donations under a Gift Aid Scheme and the charity can claim back tax at the basic rate of tax. Gifts made by individual donors must be from their own money and they must pay or have paid sufficient UK tax for the same tax year as the donation is made to cover the repayment that will be claimed by the charity.
Companies in Britain are also entitled to make gifts to charities under the Gift Aid Scheme, and obtain tax relief on their payments. The full amount of the donation can be deducted by Companies from their total profits in their corporate tax computation.
